  • How are fragrances represented visually? How are they classified? The exhibition Science and Essences. NASEVO, which takes us inside the world of smells, is open to visitors from 9 February until 22 April in Room 15 of the Museu de Garrotxa, on the first floor of the Hospici. Admission is free.

    Visitors to this highly experimental exhibition, which explains smells and the various olfactory families to which they belong, will be expected to use their noses and smell. Colours and smells are brought together thanks to the nose in the scientific and creative processes of Nasevo, the artistic alias of the creator of essences Ernesto Ventós. Deaf since he was a boy, instead of just looking at artworks he smells them. The exhibition will officially open on Saturday, 9 February, at 6.00 p.m.

    The exhibition, fruit of an invitation from the CEM municipal schools council, was designed to be enjoyed by young and old alike. During the 2016/17 academic year, the various CEM committees opted to focus debate on the town’s educational resources, and as a result the Primary and Secondary committees, made up of the management teams of Olot’s schools, put forward the idea of an interactive scientific exhibition. Science and Essences. NASEVO is the outcome of a joint endeavour by the ICCO and the IME to provide an educational resource for Primary and Secondary schools and at the same time to go beyond the classroom as an educational experience open to all.
